The Disciplinary Conference

Next Conference - 5th February 2010

The 11th Disciplinary Conference will be taking place on Friday 5th February 2010 following the success of our previous conferences.

The 'Disciplinary Conference' is the premier conference dedicated to professionals working in the sphere of professional regulation and from small roots has grown from strength to strength.

2010 Conference theme: “Keeping ahead of the Challenge”

Today is tomorrow yesterday. This simple statement in many ways appears to be where we are today with some of the disciplinary issues. Many of the issues we have discussed over the last 10 Conferences are coming back into focus whilst at the same time we have new approaches and influences to consider.
New tiers of regulation; a boost for consumers; financial pressures; legislation both new and outdated are just a few of the pressures for the world of discipline.

Hard times for the professions encourage the taking of short cuts whilst those who perceive they have suffered are more likely to seek redress within an increasingly complaints driven society. Disciplinary complaints tend to follow. There also appears to be an increasing interest in challenging tribunals and process.

With all of this in mind we are examining the effective management of the tribunal and the parties – and dealing effectively with challenge without damaging the integrity of the process or the parties legitimate rights. We will at this Conference be looking at these subjects, benefiting from the Scottish experience which increasingly seems to show the shape of things to come for England whilst discussing the increased use of Human Rights issues and practical data problems.

Naturally the day will be practical, interactive, with top speakers and networking opportunities.
