Philip Yelland is Director of Regulation for the Law Society of Scotland.
He attended school in Edinburgh and obtained a Law Degree from Edinburgh University in 1984. Between school and university, Philip spent four years working in the Department of Health & Social Security. Having obtained his Law Degree and Diploma in Legal Practice, Philip worked in private practice in Edinburgh for five years, in two small firms.
He joined the Law Society of Scotland in 1990 as a Case Manager in what was then the Complaints Department and became Head of that Department in July 1991. In recent years, as the number of complaints received has expanded, the Client Relations Office as it is now called has expanded and Philip is responsible for a total of 38 staff, including a management team of 5.
Away from work, Philip is married with three children and enjoys sport as his relaxation – he still plays 5-a-side football, cricket and golf and is involved with BarrowAFCof the Nationwide North League in writing their match day programme.
